Sultan Al Jaber said in an interview with AFP 5 days before the start of the COP28 conference in the UAE: "Everyone must assume their responsibilities and be held accountable."

"This includes all industries, especially industries that emit a lot of emissions such as aviation, transport, aluminium, cement and steel, as well as the oil and gas sectors," he said.

"We have to encourage private sector financing, we must help reduce risk for private capital. "We need to provide the necessary safeguards and coverage mechanisms to protect the private sector and urge it to join efforts to solve the challenges of climate finance."

"I will ask everyone and every sector to take responsibility and be held accountable in order to achieve the goal of limiting climate warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to the pre-industrial period," he stressed.
