Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called up Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and enquired about the relief and rescue operations being carried out to rescue the workers trapped in the tunnel near Silkyara in Uttarkashi. Prime Minister Modi said that necessary rescue equipment and resources are being provided by the central government. The workers will be safely evacuated in coordination with central and state agencies. The morale of the stranded workers needs to be maintained.

Giving information about the current situation, the Chief Minister said that the state and central agencies are engaged in relief and rescue work with mutual coordination and readiness. The workers trapped in the tunnel are safe and oxygen, nutritious food and water are being provided. Agencies are working with the opinion of experts for relief and rescue operations.

Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami said that he himself visited the spot and is constantly monitoring the rescue operations. A medical team has also been deployed there. The Chief Minister said that all the laborers trapped inside the tunnel are safe and every effort is being made to get them out soon. So far, the Prime Minister has taken information about the situation from the Chief Minister three times. The PMO team has also inspected the spot and is constantly monitoring the situation and working in coordination.

The Chief Minister said that he has directed the officials to arrange counseling through psychiatrists to maintain the morale of the stranded workers and their families, as well as to constantly communicate with them and meet their needs. He said that the Uttarakhand government will bear the expenses of transportation, food, accommodation and mobile recharge of the families of the laborers who want to come here. In this hour of disaster, we all have to maintain the courage of the laborers and their families.

Cm Dhami said that the top priority of the central and state government is to bring out the laborers trapped in the tunnel, which is being reviewed from the Prime Minister's Office. He reiterated that the state government's tunnel projects in Uttarakhand will be reviewed in the wake of the tunnel tragedy.
