A Turkish cargo ship with 12 crew sank off the Turkish Black Sea coast in a storm on Monday, authorities were unable to contact the crew, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on Tuesday.

The captain of the Turkish-flagged Kafkametler said on Monday morning that the ship was heading for a breakwater near Eregli, in Turkey's northwestern county of Zonguldak, the county governor's office said earlier.

Yerlikaya said the ship sank after hitting the breakwater, BTA reported.
