The bridgehead on the left bank of the Kherson region opens the "road to Crimea". For the successful advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reserves are needed.
This opinion was expressed by military expert Roman Svitan in an interview with UNIAN.
According to him, now they are trying to expand the "tactical" bridgehead on the left bank of the Defense Forces to the level of "operational". It must be at least 15 km away.
"Now we are in the middle of this path. Now up to 8 km there is already an advance from the coast. And the operational bridgehead should be at least 15 kilometers long in order to rebuild engineering structures, if a decision is made, to transfer heavy equipment to the left bank. These should be pontoon crossings, landing stages for receiving barges. This is a process that has not yet begun, the decision has not yet been made," the expert explains.
In addition, according to the expert, the further development of the situation on the left bank depends on the reaction of the Russian command. They can transfer troops to the Kherson region, stopping the offensive on Avdiivka. However, if this does not happen, they will not be able to stop the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"If you move through Skadovsk along the Black Sea coast, it is possible to enter Crimea in two or three ways – a naval landing or move along the sea to Armyansk," he said.
Recall that Putin dismissed the commander in the Kherson direction, Oleg Makarevich, and Colonel-General Mikhail Teplinsky put the commander of the airborne troops in his place. The ex-company commander of the Aidar battalion, Yevhen Dykyi, explained the decision of the Russian dictator.
