New Delhi:The Enforcement Directorate (ED) took major action on Wednesday in the Delhi Excise Policy Scam. The ED has arrested senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh. Shortly after this arrest, Delhi CM and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal reached Sanjay Singh's house. Kejriwal was accompanied by his wife Sunita Kejriwal. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met the family members of Sanjay Singh and targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the ED's action. He said that he will go to court against the arrest of Sanjay Singh.
After meeting Sanjay Singh's father and wife, CM Kejriwal told the media, "The whole house was searched from morning to evening. I searched all the pillows and mattresses, but found nothing. After that, in the evening, these people were arrested and taken away. Now elections are coming and ever since the INDIA alliance has been formed, the Prime Minister has been badly upset. Because they feel that if this alliance succeeds, which will happen... Then Modi is losing. They are losing badly. As a result of that ruckus, he (Sanjay Singh) has been arrested today."
"Look now, by 2024, a lot of people will be arrested. Don't know who will be arrested. Sanjay Singh is a lion. He is not a nervous person. The Prime Minister has a misconception that he will intimidate and bow down to us by making arrests. We are not scared people. We have walked on the path of truth and we will bear the brunt of it. We will file a case in court and fight on the streets."
Arvind Kejriwal said, "The path of honesty is difficult. If we become dishonest, all problems will end. All of them (BJP leaders) are corrupt from head to toe, they have no answer to our honesty."
"Aam Aadmi Party is a staunch honest party. These people have made every effort to defame us. For the last one year, they have raised a new issue of liquor scam. These people conducted thousands of raids but these people did not get anything. Only people are being forcibly arrested."
Sanjay Singh, the third AAP leader to be arrested, is the third Aam Aadmi Party leader
to be arrested by the investigating agency in a case. Earlier, the CBI had arrested former Deputy CM and Education Minister Manish Sisodia in the liquor policy case. Later, the ED also joined the investigation of this case. Sisodia has been in Tihar Jail since February 26. Another AAP leader and former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain was arrested in a money laundering case in May last year.
The arrest of AAP's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh came hours after the ED raided his house. In a video message before the investigating agency officials took him away, Sanjay Singh said, "It is acceptable to die, not to be afraid."
The deployment of Delhi Police and paramilitary personnel has been increased at the
ED office. Barricading has been done here. Sanjay Singh will be kept overnight in the ED's lock-up. He will appear in court after medical examination in the morning. There will be a demand for the custody of Sanjay Singh.
