A statement by the Palestinian Ministry of Health said that Muhammad Jibril Romana died "from serious wounds sustained by live occupation bullets in Al-Bireh," the twin city of Ramallah, noting that a second Palestinian was wounded, without giving any details about the circumstances of the incident.
For its part, the Israeli army said in a statement that "terrorists" deliberately "threw Molotov cocktails at a military site near the town of Psagut" adjacent to Al-Bireh.
"They were spotted by a military force that was actively engaged in the area and opened fire at them," the statement said.
The statement said the military force "managed to neutralize two terrorists who were taken for treatment," noting that there were no casualties among Israeli soldiers.
