DAR ES SALAAM: The Executive Committee of the National Sports Journalists Association (TASWA), has appointed Jemedari Said Kazumari as Chairman of the Tanzania Best Sportspersons Awards Committee.
A statement issued by TASWA Secretary-General Alfred Lucas states that TASWA has restored the awarding of its awards as it has in previous years and will begin monthly awards from July 2023 to June 2024, then a ceremony to reward all athletes who have performed well in 2023/24 for various sports as the TASWA Executive Committee will plan on the advice of the Awards Committee.
The general, who is a journalist, also with a B football coaching license, is a former football player in various teams in the country and abroad, has been the Football Federation's (TFF) Licensing Manager and Development Officer for four years.
He was also the manager of the Azam FC team that won the Premier League in Tanzania Mainland in the 2012/2013 season, has been the TFF's Acting Director of Competition and also a member of the League Steering Committee (72 Hours Committee). He's also a great spectator of various sports.
The Vice Chairman of the Awards Committee will be Mbonile Burton, who has become President of the Tanzania Women's Golf Association (TLGU). He is also an expert in tennis, cricket, skwashi, table ball, feathers and athletics.
The secretary of the committee will be Ramadan Dodduke, who has been a sports journalist for more than 20 years at the editorial level, and is also a sports expert in the country.
The delegates are Tullo Chambo,Wilson Oruma, Patrick Nyembera, Evance Mhando, Amry Masare, Aaron Mpanduka, Ramadan Mwelondo, Cosmas Mlekani, Adam Lutta, Gift Macha, Charles Abel, Paschal Kabombe, Mussa Mwakisu, Anuary Binde, Rahel Pallangyo, Tagato James, Ezekiel Mwambopo, Alex Luambano, Faustine Felician, Abisay Stephen Jr, Abdul Mkeyenge, Yusuph Badi, Omary Katanga, Irene Kilango, Athanas Kazige, Suleiman Jongo, Fatma Chikawe and Abdallah Ibrahim.
