(CNN) –– A New York judge has found Donald Trump and his eldest children liable for fraud in the lawsuit filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James just days before the case goes to trial.

Judge Arthur Engoron also sanctioned Trump's lawyers for repeating legal arguments they made earlier.

The judge granted prosecutor James' motion for summary judgment declaring that Trump, his children and others "are legally responsible for persistent violations" of New York law. He also stated that the financial statements the Trumps provided to lenders and insurers for about a decade were false and that they repeatedly committed fraud.
