Montenegro's gross domestic product (GDP) for the second quarter of this year rose by 6.9%, Montenegrin news agency MINA told BTA, citing data from Montenegro's Monstat statistical office.

GDP for the second quarter amounted to about 1.69 billion. EUR 1.42 billion for the same period last year, Monstat said in a press release.

GDP growth in Montenegro is also the highest recorded in Europe for this period, the press release said.

The statistics for the other countries in the region are as follows: Croatia grew by 2.7%, Serbia - 1.7% and Slovenia - 1.4%.

According to Monstat data, Montenegro's GDP growth last year was 6.4%.

In 2022, GDP per capita amounted to 9,600 euros, and in 2021 it was 8,000 euros.
