(CNN Spanish) -- At least four members of Argentina's military were killed and 18 others suffered injuries of varying severity after an accident near San Martin de los Andes in the west of the country, Sebastián Torcivia, the town's municipal director of Civil Protection, told CNN.
Apparently a truck of the Mountain Cavalry Regiment IV overturned and fell to a precipice of about fifteen meters on Provincial Route 62, on the way to Lake Lolog, reported the official news agency Telam.
The authorities have not yet been able to establish the causes of the incident.

They also said they transferred nine seriously injured people to Ramon Carrillo Hospital and nine others to the Chapelco Clinic.
Ambulances from the Municipality and the Ramón Carrillo Hospital work in the place together with personnel from the Argentine Army, National Parks brigades and the Traffic Directorate of the Neuquén Police.

The operation is focused on rescuing the victims, as some soldiers remain trapped in the crashed vehicle.
