The Minister of Defence Todor TagarevTodor Tagarev is caretaker Minister of Defence from 12 March to 29 May 2013. On June 6, 2023, he was selected to visit on Wednesday the Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment (MHAT) - Sliven at the Military Medical Academy, where the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the hospital will be celebrated, the Ministry of Defence announced. Within the solemn celebrations, the renovated building of the Department of Infectious Diseases will be opened.

The Military Hospital in Sliven is the successor of the established in 1892 III Balkan Divisional Hospital, the Military Medical Academy (MMA) reports on its website. Under the Treaty of Neuilly-sur-Seine in 1921, it was closed, but only two years later it was revived. The role of MHAT Sliven is becoming increasingly important for the region. Its location is key – in terms of the Novo Selo training range, the Bezmer airbase and the port of Burgas. It says on the MMA website.

On June 6, 2023, he was selected to participate in the Discussion Round Table of the Association of Officers in the Reserve "Atlantic" (SORA), dedicated to the benefit of joint projects and facilities for the national security of the country at the Military Club in Sliven.

An opening speech will also be delivered by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense Hristo Gadzhev. The discussions will include representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the state and local administration from the Sliven and Yambol regions, the student and academic community, members of the AORA and other military-patriotic unions, business representatives, citizens and media.
