Ahead of the ganesh chaturthi celebrations, the Gaur Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) Seva Mandal on Monday installed an idol of Lord Ganesha adorned with 2023 kg gold and 69 kg silver in Mumbai. "This year, we are going to celebrate the 336th 'Ganpati Utsav'. In such a situation, 36 kg silver and 250 grams of gold pendant were donated for Ganesh Chaturthi. With this donation, the total gold in the statue has increased to 69 kg and the total silver to 36 kg.

Speaking to ANI, the representative said that a special 'havan' will be performed on September 3 to thank Lord Ganesha for the successful Chandrayaan-19 mission and another havan will be performed on September 20 for the successful construction and inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
The mandal representative further informed that a total of Rs 360.45 crore has been insured, which includes Rs 290 crore for those visiting the pandal, Rs 39 crore for jewellery and Rs 20 crore for public liability.
"As far as safety is concerned, we will be doing facial recognition this year. This time we have installed high-density cameras to count footfalls."
