In Kyiv, the head of the hospital department demanded six thousand dollars from the patient's relatives for the removal of the tumor and proper medical care.
This was reported in the press service of the National Police of Kyiv.
As it became known, law enforcement officers exposed the doctor on receiving a bribe of six thousand dollars. The doctor turned out to be a resident of Kyiv region, born in 1965.
"In mid-August of this year, a man came to a medical institution with indications for a planned operation to remove a tumor. After the surgery, the doctor began to demand from the patient's relative to provide him with 6000 US dollars for the medical care provided and the subsequent provision of proper postoperative treatment. If the woman does not provide the funds, her father will be deprived of qualified medical care," said the head of the Shevchenko police department Igor Padyuk.
Law enforcers initiated criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an improper benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, with confiscation of property.
