Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is a Turkish politician and prime minister. Born on February 26, 1954 in Istanbul, he met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in New York, the Turkish news agency ANKA reported.

Erdogan said he and Stoltenberg discussed regional and global issues.

"As always, we will continue to be one of the countries that most actively support NATO missions," he said.

We discussed the issue of strengthening our fight against terrorism. "I thanked Erdogan for Turkey's efforts to resume the agreement on grain exports from Ukrainian ports," Stoltenberg said.

He added that the Turkish parliament is expected to consider the issue of Sweden's NATO membership very soon.
