Thailand's Bangkok Airways announced that from September 9 to October 15, passengers will be required to have their weight checked at the gates before boarding to ensure that flights depart in strict compliance with maximum payload standards.

Bangkok Airways issued a statement on the 16th that the collection of passenger weight data is aimed at improving the compilation of average weight data, improving the accuracy and reliability of flight operations, and promises to keep confidential information only for the calculation and use of company employees, looking forward to the support and cooperation of passengers.

Determining the standard weight and average data of passengers can help accurately calculate the weight distribution of the aircraft and ensure balance during flight, thereby curbing fuel consumption.

Korean Air and Air New Zealand have taken similar measures.

Headquartered at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok Airways operates regular flights to and from Hong Kong, Cambodia, Laos, Maldives, Myanmar, Vietnam and Singapore.
