The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, arrived this afternoon to the Harlem neighborhood in New York to pay tribute to Malcolm X, the African-American religious leader and activist killed in 1965, Puerto Rican journalist Luis De Jesús shared on his X account.
The Cuban president participated in an event at the Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial Center, where Malcolm X was assassinated. The activist's daughter, Ilyasah Shabazz, was present, he reported, and shared snapshots of the president's visit to that community.
