The much-vaunted Pantsir S-1 air defense system was installed near the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin near Moscow.

This was reported by the Russian service of Radio Liberty with reference to geolocated photos.

Journalists of the publication studied the story of the propaganda TV channel "Russia", which showed a video of the construction of a new site for the deployment of the Pantsir S-1 air defense system in Moscow. According to geolocation data, it is located near the village of Zarichchya, near Moscow.

The position of the Pantsirs was surrounded by a fence and podiums were built for the installations, which are visible on a satellite image of Planet.com September 3, 2023. According to the photo, they are installed less than 10 kilometers from Putin's residence in Novo-Ogaryovo.

Radio Liberty also studied satellite images of other sites in the Moscow region, where air defense systems were installed in early 2023 to protect Moscow from UAVs – on the Novorizhskoye highway and in the area of Ostafyevo airport. According to their information, the positions of the air defense underwent similar changes: the sites were covered with concrete slabs, surrounded by fences, and the "Pantsirs" themselves were placed on podiums.
