During the blockade of the city, thousands of people with children were hiding in the Mariupol Drama Theater. After the Russians dropped aerial bombs on March 16, 2022, hundreds of civilians died under the rubble. However, now the occupiers want to build a new theater on the bones of the dead.

"They want to dance and sing in this place. And at the same time, they are trying to hide their war crime. But Mariupol residents remember the tragedy, the horrors of the blockade and the inhuman cynicism of the Russian occupiers," the city council summed up.
