Presidents Miguel Díaz-Canel and Xi Jinping met on Wednesday in South Africa, where the BRICS Summit is taking place.

Cuba attends the conclave in its capacity as president pro tempore of the G77 plus China group.

The Chinese head of state said it was a pleasure to meet with his Cuban counterpart. He recalled the visit that Díaz-Canel made to the Asian country in 2022, an occasion in which "broad consensus" was reached.

The Cuban president said he was very pleased to meet with Xi Jinping and thanked the meeting in the middle of the Chinese president's agenda at the BRICS Summit.

Diaz-Canel also reiterated his invitation to the Chinese president to visit Cuba.
