The two medical schools have 23 medical places in the 24/295 academic year, and the Faculty of Medicine of CUHK has admitted 207 diploma candidates, accounting for 70%; 88 International Baccalaureate (IB) candidates were admitted through non-joint admission, with a proportion of 30%, similar to that of the past few years.

The Faculty of Medicine of HKU has promised to recruit 75% of the places through the Joint Enrolment every year, and according to the calculation of medium and big data, 132 students will be admitted through the Joint Enrollment in the next academic year, accounting for 45% of the number of places, an increase of one percentage point over last year, but the target has not been met for the eighth consecutive year. In an interview in May, Dean of HKU Faculty of Medicine Lau Chak-sing said it was impossible to stick to the 5% target forever, but stressed that 75% to <>% of students are local.

CUHK: More than eighty percent of top students choose to study medicine

As for the admission results of medical students, CUHK refers to the fact that 5** equals 8.5 points, 5* equals 7 points, and 5 equals 5.5 points, based on the best six subjects in the HKDSE examination, nearly 46% of the candidates who scored 70 points or above in seven subjects chose to enter the Faculty of Medicine of CUHK. With a minimum admission score of 40.5 and a maximum admission score of 51, Global Medicine has been the subject with the highest median admission score in Hong Kong for ten consecutive years.

Based on the best five subject scores and the number of grades 5** and 5*, more than <>% of the top <> students in Hong Kong were admitted to CUHK, and more than <>% of them were enrolled in medical studies.

Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Mr John Chan, said that he was very pleased that the results of candidates admitted to CUHK Medical Sciences continued to maintain a very high standard, and the proportion of students admitted through JUPAS remained at 70%, reflecting that the quality of teaching and research at the Faculty of Medicine of CUHK continues to be welcomed and recognized by the academic community, parents and the community.
