Since February 24, 2022, more than 18,<> of our citizens have returned from various directions, in particular, through the closed border with Russia and Belarus.

This was announced on the air of Radio Liberty by spokesman of the State Border Guard Service Andriy Demchenko.

He stressed that communication between Ukrainian and Russian border guards is not taking place.

"Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and later the de-occupation of a certain part of the territories, more than 18,<> of our compatriots have returned home from these directions through different directions, different sections of the border, in particular in the direction of the border with Russia and Belarus," Demchenko said.

It should be noted that checkpoints at the borders with the aggressor country are closed.

However, according to Demchenko, at one of the checkpoints, the Russian Federation admits Ukrainians, and detailed checks are waiting for our citizens there.

"As you can see, in the direction of the border with the aggressor country, our citizens are actively subjected to checks by Russian border guards. Not always all our citizens manage to cross the border the first time in order to get to Ukrainian territory," the border guard added.

Earlier, the head of the Institute for the Future and former adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs Vadym Denysenko proposed to extend the restriction of travel abroad for men of military age for at least three years after the end of the war.
