The average pension in Ukraine is 5300 UAH per month, while 30% of pensioners receive less than 3000 UAH. The smallest average pension is in the Ternopil region.

In Ukraine, the number of pensioners decreased

In Ukraine, the number of pensioners decreased by 140 thousand. during the second quarter of 2023 – the most since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion. Every year the number of pensioners is reduced by an average of 2%.

Most likely, the sharp decline in the number of pensioners in the second quarter of 2023 is associated with updated data in the PFU report for four regions: Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia.

Average pension

The average pension in Ukraine at the beginning of July reached UAH 5311.44. At the same time, now 30% of Ukrainian pensioners receive less than UAH 3000,2589. The subsistence minimum is <> UAH.

According to the Pension Fund, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the average pension has increased by 21.5%.

Where are the biggest and smallest pensions in Ukraine

During the full-scale invasion, pensions increased the most in Rivne region (+ 69%) and Zhytomyr region (+ 49%).

At the same time, in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv and Rivne regions, the average pension exceeds the general indicator in the country.

The smallest average pension was recorded in the Ternopil region – UAH 4023.42. This is 24% below the national average. And the highest average pension is in Kyiv. Residents of the capital receive an average of 7190.4 pensions, which is one third more than the national average.

It is also reported that today most pensioners were recorded in Dnipropetrovsk region (886 thousand), in Kyiv (750 thousand) and in Kharkiv region (725 thousand).

Recall, as of the beginning of August, a pension in the amount of more than 10 thousand rubles. UAH is received by 10.4% of pensioners (this is 1.1 million people). At the same time, less than 3 thousand. UAH is received by 29.5% of pensioners (3.1 million people).

Earlier it was also reported that in July 2023, pensions of civil servants, scientists, employees of local governments will be transferred. Yes, the amount of payments should increase by 19.7%, but in monetary terms, this increase will be different for everyone.

In addition, in August, on the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine, additional payments to pensions will be received by veterans of the Second World War, victims of Nazi persecution, veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war and family members of the victims.
