The statement by Russian propaganda media that Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu allegedly came to the front was made in order to inspire demotivated Russians. Thus, the prestige of contract service in the Russian army increases.

This opinion was expressed in an exclusive interview with by military observer, reserve major and veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war Oleksiy Hetman.

"I do not believe that Shoigu actually arrived at the front. Photos and videos inside the helicopter can be taken anywhere. Whether he was there or not, the main thing is to say that he was to inspire Russians whose demotivation is off scale. Allegedly, the great leadership of Gerasimov, Shoigu and even Putin come behind the front line, support the Russian army and do everything that is necessary," the expert says.

He added that this increases the prestige of contract service in the Russian army: "Putin signed an order on compulsory insurance of people who signed contracts, and that in case of injury or death there will be a large compensation."

"They can even be understood. They know that Russians have a low moral level, so they are trying by all possible means to raise the mood within their troops," Oleksiy Hetman said.

"I think it's a lie. Although, on the other hand, maybe he really flew 200 kilometers to the front line and shot this video there. In this, the Russians are masters. They have a leader here – Kadyrov, who has super-segments at all," the military observer concluded.
