The seized funds and assets of Russia abroad will be directed to the appropriate compensation fund for the restoration of Ukraine and compensation for Ukrainians.
This was announced on the air of the national telethon by Minister of Justice Denys Maliuska.
"We are now working with our colleagues from the United States: they recently confiscated the assets of one of the Russian oligarchs. The proceeds from such confiscation, in pilot mode, we will just try to send to the account, so that later this compensation mechanism can work," he said.
According to the minister, currently the amount of confiscated assets is relatively small compared to the damage caused to the country as a result of the war. The Ukrainian authorities are working to seize all assets of the Russian Federation in the West and send them for compensation.
"There are different visions of what it should look like. Is it possible to select all assets at a time and send for compensation. Whether these assets will be frozen and the interest accrued on these assets will be paid to Ukraine in stages. Then the amount of annual payments will be less, on the order of several billion dollars. Or a one-time payment in favor of the fund – then we are talking about hundreds of billions of dollars... These discussions are ongoing... Because the consequences of such confiscation will be global," Denys Maliuska summed up.
We will remind, it became known how much Ukraine can lose because of the non-return of Ukrainian refugees.
