The high floors of the buildings in Plovdiv were left without water due to a major water main failure.

The accident happened during the demolition of the old railway bridge over Maritsa east of the city. Currently, there is a rehabilitation of the railway track.

A water pipeline that takes water from the pumping station "East 2" to the city has been damaged, explained the spokesman of WSS eng. Anton Galabov. According to him, part of the metal structure of the bridge fell on the pipe and broke it.

Galabov added that throughout the night, emergency crews cleared the debris to reach the damaged pipe. The extent of the damage is not yet clear, so it is unclear exactly when the accident will be removed and normal water supply to the city will be restored.
