(CNN) -- At least one person was killed and four others wounded during a shooting at a neighborhood party in northeast Indianapolis late Monday, the Indianapolis Police Department said.

Several guns were found at the scene of the shooting, which occurred along Forest Manor Avenue around 11 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of a person shot and found a woman shot, police said in a news release. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services.

Soon after, several people were admitted to hospitals with gunshot wounds, the statement said. Two individuals, both in stable condition, attended Community East Hospital, while a third went to Community North Hospital, according to the release. The status of the third individual was not listed. A fourth wounded individual also arrived at a hospital, police said, but did not suffer a gunshot wound.

Investigators believe all of the injured are related to the scene on Forest Manor Avenue, where several cars remain parked after sustaining damage as people tried to flee the scene, authorities said.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a party was being held in the neighborhood "when a disturbance occurred and shots were fired," according to the statement.

The investigation is still ongoing and police are asking anyone with video footage or information to contact detectives.

The shooting is just one of several that altered life in the United States on Monday night: another shooting in Philadelphia left five dead - including a 15-year-old boy - and two children aged 2 and 13 wounded. Another, in Fort Worth, Texas, left three dead and eight wounded.
