Several changes concerning the funds for pensioners will come into force today. The so-called Swiss rule by 12% will be updated pensions granted by the end of 2022.

As of today, the minimum pension for full length of service and age will increase from BGN 467. at 523.04 leva.

The social old-age pension will also increase by 12%. Its size will increase to BGN 276.64. On Tuesday, at a briefing at the Council of Ministers, Social Minister Ivanka Shalapatova pointed out that this increase will increase the incomes of 126,000 elderly people.

She informed that the change will lead to an increase in pensions that are not tied to labor activity, as their amount is determined by the social old-age pension.

These are military and civil disability pensions, the social disability pension and the personal pension. The amount of statutory pension supplements will also increase – for foreign aid and war veterans, the minister also said.

Finance Minister Assen Vassilev told reporters on Wednesday that a 12 percent increase in pensions has been fully ensured since July 1.

From the beginning of 2023, the new amount of the poverty line - BGN 504 - entered into force.
