One of the aspirations of the Ministry of Domestic Trade (Mincin), as part of the process of improving the sector, is to promote the development of the digital warehouse and the virtual supply book.

This goal, while ambitious and still under development, is part of the digital transformation in the country and will boost much-needed e-commerce.

Rodolfo Cabrera Morales, Mincin's IT director, told Granma that this project is closely related to the computerization of the Consumer Registry (the so-called Oficodas), since it uses the Oregi system as a base.

He explained that the virtual warehouse aims to establish control in the acquisition of products from the regulated family basket and controlled regulated articles; Virtual purchases of "errands" are made remotely and the winemaker is updated, in the system, through mobile devices, so you can have control of who buys, who pays and the amount of products you purchase.

He added that it has a system of notifications of the products that arrive at the warehouse and the expiration date of these and medical diets, as well as statistical access as a form of control for establishments.

Similarly, said Cabrera Morales, the consumer can choose as additional options the pre-packaging of the products and the courier service.

According to Inalvis Smith Luben, deputy minister of Mincin, in statements to this newspaper, this project is conceived in stages and "we are not thinking of deploying in the total of the wineries. Practice will tell us how it will be implemented gradually."

This same virtual warehouse, he said, will be associated with the digital supply book. Even the option that those who take advantage of this modality will not be able to have a physical notebook is evaluated.

This implies that, when the requested product is marked, it is automatically reduced from the inventory, because it reaches the existing inventory control in the warehouse.

He said that, before reaching the realization of this project, it is first necessary to do a preliminary work with a group of consumers, who will integrate the pilot tests of this system, to know the willingness to participate in the experience, and with the dependents to familiarize them with the platform.

The Isle of Youth as a model

The Commerce Company of the Pinero territory has implemented in 100% of its commercial establishments the payment service through the gateways by static qr codes by both platforms (EnZona and Transfermóvil), said Yarisleydis Rodríguez Rives, director of the entity.

He added that, taking into account that approximately 95% of retirees and pensioners have magnetic cards and not many with mobile devices, the entity proposed to implement payment through Point of Sale Terminals (POS) in the 63 warehouses of the territory.

This laid the foundations to start by the Special Municipality, once the system is finished, a deployment of the digital warehouse and the virtual supply book.

At the moment, Rodríguez Rives said, the development of the online reservation system for the purchase of the regulated family basket and other sales services to the population, both of the controlled products, and of those released, with the option of courier and pre-packaging, is progressing in the El Cauto winery – with a total of 498 nuclei and 1,311 consumers.

"In addition to these services, we are programming an online sales system also with the modality of a Virtual Winery," he said.

Although there is still no date of completion of the new system, he commented that it must meet certain safety parameters and must be linked to others with which the Mincin operates in order to have better control of the nuclei and consumers who have medical diets, among other requirements.

In this system, pointed out the Director of the Isla de la Juventud Commerce Company, we have advanced to the creation of the areas, type of product, the quantity to acquire and the value of the sale, to finally be able to request access to the API (application programming interface) of EnZona and Transfermóvil so that the consumer, through the QR code generated by these platforms, you can make your payment.

This type of Virtual Warehouse will include a digital supply book, which has digitized the number of consumers and the number of cores that corresponds.

At this point, he pointed out that the project conceives that only the head of the nucleus, registered in the system, will mark in the box that corresponds to the month of the purchase the amount he wishes to acquire, according to the number of consumers of his supply book.

Once this proposal is presented, the reader could say that it is "science fiction". It is ambitious, yes, but the first steps are already being taken. We cannot lose sight of the complexity of the systems with which Internal Trade works and its impact on the so-called Oficodas.

The truth is that the improvement of the system advances and, consequently, the digital transformation of the country. It only remains to wait for the culmination of this proposal and, who knows if, in less than we think, we will be buying errands, from the phone and at home.
