New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday boarded the Delhi Metro to attend the centenary celebrations of Delhi University. The PM was invited as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the DU centenary celebrations, which were launched on the occasion of the university's foundation day on May 1, 2022. In the video of the metro, PM Modi was seen sitting in the metro as a common passenger and interacting with people during the metro ride from Lok Kalyan Marg metro station to Vishwa Vidyalaya metro station.

"Happy to have youngsters as my co-passengers," the PM tweeted, sharing some pictures of his interaction with students inside the metro coach.

Later, addressing the event, the Prime Minister shared his experiences while travelling in the Metro. "Like the students here, I travelled by metro today. From discussing science subjects to new series on OTT, they don't miss out on any subject."

During the event, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the building of the Computer Centre and Faculty of Technology of Delhi University and the academic block to be built on the university's North Campus.

The University of Delhi (DU) was established in 1922 through an Act of the Central Legislative Assembly and has been recognised as a prestigious institution by the University Grants Commission.
