In Ivano-Frankivsk region, a deserter was sentenced to 4 years in prison. The man was mobilized in May 2022, but a month later he escaped from the military unit.
This is stated in the verdict of the Kolomyia City District Court of Ivano-Frankivsk region.
According to the court, the man was mobilized on May 9, 2022. He was appointed sergeant major of the rifle platoon of the rifle company of the rifle battalion.
On June 5, 2022, at 6:30 a.m., the mobilized escaped from the military unit, "concealing his affiliation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine."
At the trial, the suspect admitted guilt and repented. The man was charged with Part 4 of Art. 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - desertion, since he voluntarily left a military unit in order to evade military service, committed under martial law.
The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to 4 years in prison. This verdict can still be appealed to the Court of Appeal.
We will remind, in the Ternopil region tried a man who was recognized fit for mobilization, but he did not arrive at the training center, having received a combat summons. For this, he was sentenced to 3 years in prison, replacing it with 1 year and 6 months of probation.
Also in the Rivne region, a man received a summons, but refused to mobilize because of money. He will be in prison for three years.
