On the night of June 20, Russia attacked Ukraine with Shahed kamikaze drones. Air defense managed to shoot down 32 drones out of 35, but hits were also recorded. In addition, the enemy used Iskander-M and S-300 missiles.

According to Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat, the occupiers attacked the north and south of Ukraine from the Seshcha airfield in the Bryansk region, as well as from the south - the eastern coast of the Sea of Azov. It is there that drones are delivered after Moscow receives them.

Yuriy Ihnat told about this on the air of the national telethon.

"Drones attack from there at night, which complicates the work of air defense. I mean mobile fire groups, because not all units that shoot down these "Shaheds" have radar binding to the target. In most cases, these drones should be shot down with small arms, as we would like, but we have to use more powerful anti-aircraft missile systems, because the threat from drones is quite serious," he said.

According to an Air Force spokesman, Russia launched 35 drones from the northern and southern directions overnight. The main direction of attack is Kyiv region. Most of the UAVs – more than 20 Shaheds – were destroyed there

"32 drones out of 35 were destroyed by the forces and means of the Defense Forces: 30 by the Air Force, and two more Shaheds were destroyed by units of the Ground Forces. In addition, the enemy used missiles flying along the ballistic trajectory "Iskander-M", as well as S-300 - anti-aircraft missiles that the enemy uses against ground targets. In Zaporizhzhia, this happened, the consequences are being clarified there. A hit was recorded in Lviv region," Yurii Ihnat said.

He noted that the enemy is trying to confuse air defense, laying new routes in advance in different areas in order to focus the attention of air defense.

"So that we spend forces and means on them, anti-aircraft guided missiles. And this is also done to detect air defense systems," Ihnat summed up.
