In Russia, after poisoning with surrogate cider, mass poisoning with shawarma was reported. The incident took place in Bratsk, Irkutsk region – in the fast food café "Shawarma I want" the number of victims of street food consumption is 101 people, including 22 children.

This was announced by the governor of the Irkutsk region Igor Kobzev.

According to Kobzev, 51 people had to be hospitalized. There are no severe cases of poisoning, seven patients have already been discharged. Specialists of the regional Rospotrebnadzor conducted an epidemiological investigation, during which they found out that the staff of the institution did not observe hygiene, prepared meals with violations and stored food.

Earlier, the city court of Bratsk sent under house arrest the owner of the café "Shawarma want". A criminal case has been opened under Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (production, storage, sale of products that do not meet safety requirements).

We will remind, in early June in Russia after poisoning with cider died 36 people, among the victims is a child. In total, more than 100 people were injured, some of them are in hospitals in different regions with symptoms of poisoning. Impurities of methanol and ethyl butyrate were found in cider. Alcohol for the drink was stolen from the warehouse of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was stored there after seizure from 2012.
