Two people were killed and five injured in a shooting after a graduation ceremony for high school students in Virginia, police said.

The incident occurred in the U.S. state capital, Richmond.

A gunman opened fire in a park as students and their parents began leaving the theater after the ceremony ended.

Police arrested the attacker, a 19-year-old man. There was no word on his motive, but he knew at least one of the people he shot.

The dead were men, aged 18 and 36, respectively. One of the injured, aged 31, is in danger of life. The other four shot were also men.

A nine-year-old girl was pushed by a car in the commotion.
