New Delhi:

The Punjab government is preparing to send back 700 students who went to Canada from Punjab on student visas. Two agents from Punjab's Jalandhar district had sent the students to Canada through fake documents. Police have arrested the accused Rahul Bhargava. The second accused, Brijesh Mishra, has fled abroad. A lookout circular notice has been issued against him. At the same time, the students who went to Canada say that they are not at fault. The students have sat on a sit-in outside the High Commission there. Meanwhile, the Punjab government has also written a letter to the Center in support of the students. It has been appealed to give work permits to students considering their visas.

700 students from Canada are set to be sent back to India. They are accused of taking admission with fake admission letters.
These students went to Canada on a study visa in 2018-19. He has completed his studies and has also obtained a work permit. When the officials investigated, they found that they had obtained visas on fake documents.

ADCP Jalandhar Aditya said, "Two agents had sent the students to Canada through fake documents. Police have arrested the accused Rahul Bhargava. A lookout circular notice has been issued against the second accused, Brijesh Mishra."

In this case, Punjab NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal has also written a letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. He wrote- "I would be grateful if you look at this matter personally. Take up this issue with the concerned agencies, including the Government of Canada and the High Commission of Canada, to prevent the return of these students."

The question is, how can such a large number of students be given fake visas? Would the agents have been active between the two countries without any government help or connivance of officials? Is this a big scam that needs to be investigated?
