The Swedish Supreme Court has upheld the first extradition of a PKK supporter to Turkey.

The EPA reports to the publication Aftonbladet that the government must take action on extradition following the Supreme Court's decision.

It has been reported that the 35-year-old man was arrested in Sweden in August last year on the basis of an inquiry by the Prosecutor's Office in Adana, Turkey.

The man was sentenced to four years and seven months in prison in 2014 for carrying a bag containing 1.8 kilograms of marijuana in Turkey. A few years later, the condition was released and moved to Sweden. The state defendant now demands that he serve the remainder of his sentence. But the person himself said the extradition was related to his political activities in the HDP and his open support for the PKK.

For the first time, a person who presents himself as a PKK supporter could be extradited from Sweden to Turkey, according to Aftonbladet. The Swedish government is deciding on extradition inquiries, but the government cannot confirm the decision if the Supreme Court votes against the decision.
