Seconds before the earthquake in Plovdiv, which occurred at 15.26 today, smartphones have notified that a tremor is imminent.

From the alarming announcement it was that an earthquake was expected, and the first instruction was: "Put on your shoes."

Strong earthquake hits Bulgaria

It turned out that the message was sent by Android Earthquake Alerts. This is not a special application, but one of the functionalities of the Android system, which notifies 25 seconds in advance. For many Plovdiv residents, however, the message arrived simultaneously with the shaking of the ground, Maritsa reported.

A similar notification was given to users with an iPhone, but shortly after the earthquake. It indicates the coordinates of the epicenter, and that the quake had a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale.
