Gunmen have kidnapped a seven-year-old girl in a village in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja (FST).

Suleyman Musa, a resident of the village, told NAS that the intruders broke into the village today, in the early hours of the day, fired several shots, then entered several houses, from where they kidnapped the child. According to Musa, the rapid intervention of a police team forced the gunmen out of the village.

Police responded to the report of the attack around 5 a.m. A police source said it was the quick response of police officers that saved the villagers from more gun casualties.

According to the source, the intruders engaged in a shootout with law enforcement before fleeing with the kidnapped girl. A police team is currently searching the area to rescue the girl and arrest the gunmen.
