For the first time, Cuba organizes an Olympic qualifier in Weightlifting to host from this June 8 until the 18th of the Grand Prix of the discipline that will bring together 272 participants from 58 countries, in Pabexpo.

In a press conference, the president of the Pan American Federation of that sport, José Carlos Quiñones, highlighted the work of the Cuban sports movement: "Not any country can organize an Olympic qualifier. You have to have a standard for this.

"Cuba at the time had the largest number of weightlifters registered in the continent and together with China and Russia dominated worldwide," he said.
