Four days after the Triple Train accident of the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express near Bahanagar Bazar station in Odisha's Balasore district, the down train from Chennai crossed the accident site on Tuesday at a speed of 30 kmph. As the train passed, a large number of people saw the train going far away. So far, more than 70 trains, including the Vande Bharat Express, have passed through the Behnga Bazar station since both the up and down lines were restored on Sunday night.

The three trains involved in the Odisha train accident were Howrah-Chennai Coromandel Express, Bengaluru-Howrah Express and a stationary goods train. In this horrific accident, 278 people died and about 1200 people were injured.

The CBI on Tuesday took over the Balasore GRP case number 64 registered by the Odisha Police.

Of the 278 bodies, 177 have been identified while the others have been kept in six different hospitals, Khurda Road Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Rinkesh Ray said on Monday.

Roy said the railways has deployed people in states like Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu to trace any missing persons.

The bodies will be preserved in a scientific manner, he said.
