The number of Russian troops currently in Belarus has dropped to a thousand people and they are mainly involved in the training process at training grounds.

This was announced by spokesman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko, Ukrinform reports.

He said that the situation in the Belarusian direction remains fully under control.

"The creation of the necessary (offensive) grouping, which could be on the territory of Belarus to carry out an invasion of Ukraine, is not currently recorded. The Russian military, who are on the territory of Belarus, are mainly involved in exercises or training at training grounds," Demchenko said.

He noted that there are currently about 1000,10 Russian troops in Belarus, which is significantly less than at the beginning of the year, when their number reached 11-<> thousand.

Demchenko said that in the future, Russia may again transfer new military formations to Belarus, but, most likely, they will also be prepared for combat operations at Belarusian training grounds.

He said that Ukrainian border guards and intelligence are closely monitoring the situation in Belarus, which actively helps Russia. In the war in Ukraine.

Earlier, the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant-General Sergei Nayev, said that Russia was preparing new units for deployment on the territory of Belarus.
