Spraying is especially effective when the soil is too heavy, which is why it is poorly permeable to nutrients, or acidified. Although such feeding will not solve the problem, it will help the plants grow and give a big harvest.
When and what to feed tomatoes in June from pests and diseases
Diseases affect tomatoes very often. It does not matter whether the bush grows in open ground or in a greenhouse. All types of tomatoes need protection, which is easiest to provide with the help of spraying.
Already from mid-June, experienced gardeners begin to carry out preventive measures to protect tomatoes from phytophthora. It is this disease that most often affects tomatoes. To do this, use only antifungal agents, which are diluted according to the instructions.
For early varieties of tomatoes, biological products are usually used so that vegetables can already be safely eaten 3-4 days after processing. If the plants have already had phytophthora or you saw its first signs on the leaves, fungicides will be needed.
If you notice a whitefly or its larvae on the leaves of tomatoes, you urgently need to spray the plantings with insecticide. Strictly follow the instructions and all precautions.
How to process tomatoes for growth and large fruits
Thanks to proper feeding in June, plants increase vegetative mass, strengthen the root system, form a large number of ovaries and tasty fruits in the future. For the first feeding (before flowering and the formation of ovaries), it is recommended to use urea (10-50 g of substance per 60 liters of water).
If plants have pale leaves, 1.5 g of sodium sulfate (per liter) should also be added to the urea solution.
When the first ovaries have already appeared on the bushes, tomato bushes are fed with phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. Use this concentration: per 10 liters of water 7-10 g of potassium sulphate and 10 g of superphosphate.
Often tomatoes get sick due to copper deficiency, so it is worthwhile to additionally spray the bushes with copper sulfate. This tool is especially effective in the case when the leaves began to curl on the plant. To spray, prepare this solution: for 1 liter of water 1-2 g of copper sulfate 0.1-0.2%.
Tomatoes are cultivated only in cloudy weather or in the evening.
After the start of fruiting, tomatoes are additionally fed with ash, boric acid and iodine. This tool is prepared very simply: add 5.1-5 liters of ash and 2 g of boric acid to 10 liters of boiling water. Cool the mixture, bring its volume to 10 liters, add one jar of iodine and let it brew for a day.
Before spraying, dissolve 1 liter of solution in 10 liters of water. Thanks to this mixture, fruiting will accelerate, and tomatoes will become more resistant to phytophthora.
