At least 275 people have lost their lives and more than 1000 have been injured after the tragic train accident in Odisha. Officials said on Monday that 101 bodies were yet to be identified. Speaking to ANI, East Central Railway Divisional Railway Manager Rinkesh Roy said that around 200 people are still undergoing treatment in various hospitals in Odisha. Around 1,100 people were injured in the accident, out of which around 900 people were discharged after treatment.

Around 200 people are being treated in various hospitals of the state. Of the 278 people who died in the accident, 101 bodies were recovered so far. Could not be identified. In the Balasore train accident, three trains collided with each other, including two passenger trains and a goods train. The incident claimed at least 275 lives and injured over 1100,<> in Balasore. This tragic incident has had a profound impact across India.

Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vijay Amrit Kulange told ANI, "Out of the total 193 bodies kept in Bhubaneswar, 80 bodies have been identified. As many as 55 bodies have been handed over to the families. The BMC's helpline number has received over 200 calls. 1929. The bodies are being identified and handed over to the families.

The accident took place when the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express collided with a stationary goods train, derailing several coaches on the adjacent track. Subsequently, the Howrah Express from Yeshwantpur to Howrah collided with the affected coaches at high speed, resulting in further derailment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday visited the Balasore accident site from Ground Zero and met the injured undergoing treatment at the hospital. Before leaving for Delhi for the accident site, PM Modi had chaired a high-level review meeting on the same.
