Local media reported that at the extraordinary congress of the Austrian Social Democratic Party yesterday a fatal mistake was made: with 317 votes, which makes 52.66 percent of the vote of the delegates, Andreas Babler was elected chairman of the party. Hans-Peter Doskotzil received 46.51 percent of the vote. Thus, the new chairman of the ASA is Andreas Babler.

As explained by the team responsible for the count, the votes were not counted incorrectly, but there was a replacement of an Excel table and the two results were exchanged. The reason for discovering the error was a recount of the ballots cast, as one vote was missing. In this action, the unpleasant error was also detected.
