Finnish President Sauli Niinistö has first entrusted the country's defense to the Finns after joining NATO.
The EPA reports that the relevant statement was contained in a statement published on its official website.
"Joining NATO's defense ring has opened a new era in our country's history. Finland will continue to be defended first and foremost by the Finns, but we will do so with our allies. Finland's most important contribution to NATO's joint deterrence and protection will be the protection of our territory," the President said in a statement. He stressed that Finland was "also responsible for NATO's overall commitments and is actively involved in the development of the ringleader."
According to Niinistö, the country's army is "working tirelessly to ensure Finland's security in the future."
