Against the background of the recent tragic incident in Kyiv, when an enemy missile arrived virtually 5-10 minutes after the announcement of the air alarm, Ukrainians are interested in the question of how to find out how much time there is before the arrival of an air target.

This was told by military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko on the air of a nationwide telethon in the 1+1 slot.

Kovalenko admitted that sometimes it is really possible not to have time to escape to the bomb shelter, so it is better to stay at home.

"Yes. It may not be right to say so, but sometimes it is true. Sometimes you may not have time to go to the bomb shelter. If we are talking about Tu-95 MS aircraft, we understand that this is the launch time, then the X-101 missiles themselves will still fly. There are about 1-1.5 hours. That is, when they say "launch of X-101", then in an hour and a half they will be in the airspace of Ukraine. There is time to react," says Kovalenko.

According to him, in the case of ballistic missiles, there is not so much time.

Kovalenko answered whether the Israeli warning system, which is being tested in Kyiv, can recognize which missile is flying.

"There are a lot of factors... We are now talking about the time of approach and whether you have time to go down to the bomb shelter. But if you do not go down to the bomb shelter, and your house is hit by a missile that the air defense forces did not have time to intercept, nothing remains of the house. And if you are in a bomb shelter, you will save your life and the lives of your loved ones. On the other hand, debris falls and there is a risk of falling debris. If you are on the street at this time, there is a threat to you... Therefore, it is quite a serious dilemma to draw such conclusions and choices," the expert explained.

Recall that on the night of June 1, the occupiers launched 10 Iskander missiles at Kyiv. Near a closed shelter in a polyclinic in the Desnyansky district of the capital, three people died: a 9-year-old girl and her 34-year-old mother, as well as a 33-year-old woman. People came to the shelter, but it was closed. They were mortally wounded as a result of falling wreckage of a downed enemy missile.
