Two brothers - aged 8 and 14, were examined at the University Hospital - Burgas and released for home treatment with minor injuries after jumping into the sea from the tetrapods to the unguarded area of the Burgas beach, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior announced.
The boys were unable to get out of the water because of the strong excitement.
The children are from the Burgas complex "Meden Rudnik", they live with their grandmother, as their mother works abroad, police spokesperson Tsvetelina Randeva said. It was found that they went to the beach alone, misleading their grandmother that he would be an adult with them. They spread the towels near the breakwater and decided to enter the sea, despite the strong excitement.
According to the Interior Ministry, the incident occurred in the early afternoon of today.
A young man responded to the boys' cries for help, rushing into the water to rescue them, having previously alerted police officers about the incident. Gendarmerie teams, municipal inspectors and paramedics were sent to the scene. The children were taken to the hospital and then released. The grandmother was questioned by law enforcement.
The young man who helped children in need is 17 years old. He is a student at the Konstantin Petkanov Secondary School.
