60% of people who have worked in the informal sector believe that undeclared work is not a serious violation, and more than half of them say they agree to work without insurance. This shows a study by the Institute of Sociology and Philosophy of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

The time of gray labor in Bulgaria is not over.

Of the 1800,40 people surveyed, <>% admit that they have at least once worked without a contract, insured themselves on a lower amount than the real salary or received additional remuneration on hand. Alexander Gerganov from the Institute of Sociology and Philosophy at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences commented for the Bulgarian National Radio:

"People think that not being insured and working without a contract is not much trouble or violation."

Political instability and insecurity in the country feed the forms of undeclared work because of corruption and fuzzy responsibility, Alexander Gerganov said:

"The lack of solidarity in people's thinking, which we associate with low trust in institutions, in the state, as well as interpersonal low trust."

The survey was conducted last year and takes into account the scale of undeclared work in 2021.
