Balasore: Damaged coaches of trains were removed from the main trunk line connecting eastern and south India and two tracks were repaired to resume train services following friday's horrific train accident at Bahanga bazar in Balasore district, officials said. The Railway Minister is constantly present at the spot since the incident. Operations on one line were started on Sunday. The Railway Minister himself was present at the place when the operations started.

After the goods train passed, the Railway Minister first thanked God and then while talking to the people, said that all the people have done a very good job. I am very sad for the families whose people were victims of this accident. But we will go to the root of this incident. Whoever is guilty will be severely punished. Congratulations to all of you for resuming operations. The second line should also be started soon.

"The 'root cause' of the accident has been ascertained"

On Sunday, Railway Minister Vaishnaw said the "root cause" of the accident has been ascertained and the "people" responsible have been identified. "It (the accident) happened due to electronic interlocking and change in point machines," he told reporters, adding that the cause of the accident was related to the point machine and electronic interlocking system, which are critical for railway signals.
