British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace believes that the Armed Forces of Ukraine can liberate Crimea as early as 2023, because the Russian occupiers are running out of the necessary equipment.

Wallace told about this in an interview for The Washington Post.

The material, citing information from the "leaked" US documents, states that US intelligence representatives assumed that within the framework of the future counteroffensive, Ukraine would achieve modest success in liberating the territories.

While U.S. officials say the situation has improved since then, they also suggest that even retaking small areas could affect Russia's military plans.

At the same time, the head of the British Ministry of Defense has more optimistic views on the current actions of Ukrainian troops on the battlefield. Wallace believes there is a real possibility that the Ukrainian Defense Forces will successfully de-occupy Crimea in 2023, as Russian troops are running out of necessary equipment.

"We saw on the battlefield that if you hit Russian troops in the wrong place, they will actually fall apart. You can send tens of thousands of young people to their deaths, which they do, but you can't conjure up the tanks and weapons systems they need."

Recall that in mid-May, Ukrainian intelligence reported that in the north of the occupied Crimea, the Russians are preparing an echeloned defense. This indicates that the invaders are considering a retreat to certain frontiers.

Even earlier, the former commander of the US Army in Europe, retired Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, predicted that Ukraine could win the war with Russia in the summer of 2023 and for this the most important thing is to liberate Crimea. It will be possible to de-occupy the peninsula by the end of summer if partners transfer long-range weapons and other necessary military equipment to Ukraine.
