The United States may offer the Russian Federation to restore the restrictions on nuclear weapons that were established in the Treaty on the Reduction of Offensive Arms before its expiration in 2026. They want to do this in order to strengthen global security.

According to Reuters, citing two senior officials of the White House administration.

The publication writes that the United States National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan is to deliver a speech to the Arms Control Association. In his speech, he allegedly has the administration of US President Joe Biden open to resume unconditional negotiations with Russia on nuclear hazard management. In particular, the replacement of the Treaty on the reduction of offensive arms with a new pact.

The Reuters source also says that Washington may also announce its readiness for dialogue on reducing nuclear risk with China. After all, Beijing is expanding its nuclear arsenal.

"When political relations are at a low level, when tensions are high, we believe arms control and nuclear danger reduction are the most important, and we can argue that we are at that moment today," the official told the publication.

Recall, the US State Department stated that the United States will no longer provide Russia with information about the status and location of its weapons, which were supposed to provide under the New START treaty. Washington will also cancel visas for Russian specialists who conducted inspections within the framework of the START, and will not issue new ones.
